Tournament Rules and Regulations
All MRMH tournaments are sanctioned by the OMHA and are governed by OMHA Tournament Rules and Regulations.
General Rules
All teams are guaranteed 4 games
All teams must be ready 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
All teams receive a 3 minute warm up period.
Preliminary games are three 10 minute stop time periods.
If a team is leading by 5 or more goals during the 3rd period, time will remain running (not applicable in championship game). If the goal differential changes to under 5 goals stop time will resume. Penalties will remain 2 minutes in length
during running time.
Championship games will feature 10-10-12 stop time periods. Over-time will be 5 minutes of 4 on 4. If still tied, a shoot out will occur, three shooters from each team; home team shoots first. If still tied after three shooters, shootout continues with 1 shooter per team at a time until only one team scores (sudden victory). All players on each team must shoot before players can repeat if necessary.
Championship games will be allowed one 30 second time out, per team
All referee decisions are final.
Only coaches can present disputes to tournament officials.
Preliminary Round Points
A teams standing in the preliminary round will be determined by the total points accumulated. No overtime will be played in the preliminary round. There will be (8) points awarded for each game as follows:
· Five (5) points will be awarded to the winner of a game.
· Two and a half (2.5) points awarded to each team of a tie game.
· One (1) point will be awarded for each period won.
· If period is tied, (1/2) point is awarded.
After the Preliminary Round games, teams will be seeded 1-12 based on the above points system.
Teams 1-4 will be seeded for Championship Round
Semi Finals will feature (1 vs 4) and (2 vs 3)
Winners of each Semi will play for Gold Medal
Losers of each Semi will play for Bronze Medal
Teams 5 & 6 will play for 5th Place
Teams 7 & 8 will play for 7th Place
Teams 9 & 10 will play for 9th Place
Teams 11 & 12 will play for 11th Place
Tie Breaker
In the event teams are tied in points at the end preliminary round the following procedure will apply.
-If head to head competition occurred, highest points earned in head to head competition get higher seeding.
-If still tied, the team with the least number of goals against will be seeded higher.
-If still tied, the team with the most goals will be seeded higher.
-If teams still tied the team with the least penalty minutes will be seeded higher.
-If teams still tied seeding will be determined by coin toss.
